The Benevolence Fund is used by churches to assist someone in great need in their community. Tragedy of all kinds can strike at any moment for someone in your town or city. A Benevolence Fund provides the church with the resources to come through and offer a financial blessing in the face of that tragedy.
Following the tradition started at the ancient Christian church in Jerusalem (Acts 6:1-7), members of the First Presbyterian Church in Port Charlotte faithfully contribute to the Deacon’s Benevolence fund, so we as a church of Jesus Christ may collectively act with a disposition to do good by giving a generous gift for someone in need.
To apply to the Benevolence Fund, you must be a resident of Port Charlotte. If proof of residency can be provided, you may contact the First Presbyterian Church Board of Deacons for an application and interview. Please be aware that due to the funds limitations, only few applicants will receive the funds, and many times, it will not cover all their needs.
