Worship and Music

Every Sunday, we faithfully come together as a community, to joyfully worship the Lord. Join us on Sunday mornings for worship at 9:00 a.m. Throughout the year, we also have special services to worship together such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday, as well as music concerts. At our worship services, you will be greeted by a member of our church family, hear a Biblical message and the stories of God’s work. Plus, you will have the opportunity to respond to God through music and prayers.

Information

What to expect?

Expect to be greeted and welcomed by one member of our church family. This is a warm and caring congregation, and we want you to feel at home. We also celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper every first Sunday of the month and on special days during the Christian year. The Sacrament of Communion is open to all Christians who claim Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and children.

What to wear?

Wear what makes you comfortable. Some men wear jackets and ties, while others wear polo or sport shirts. Some women wear slacks, and others wear dresses. You’ll even see people in Hawaiian shirts or shorts. What matters is not what you wear, but that you are here.

Where to park?

Since we share our campus with a bigger church, try to park near Gandy and Hariet, west of Rock Calvary’s Chapel main sanctuary. There are handicapped parking spaces available but they are limited. If you arrive earlier, we ask you to leave the closer parking spaces for the people who arrive late.

What you'll experience?

Entering the sanctuary, your eyes will be drawn to the beautiful stained glass windows that our congregation made. You can read about the history by clicking on this link Stained Glass. You’ll hear music from our chancel choir and pianist. You may choose to sing from the hymnal or read the same words displayed on the overhead screens. Our pastor preaches sermons that are engaging, thought-provoking, and Biblically-based, using stories, humor, and life experiences to help the written Word become the Word of life for you. We hope you’ll leave feeling closer to God and better equipped to live your daily life.

How to get to know people?

You will be welcomed by our greeters and ushers as you enter the sanctuary and will be provided with information about our church, as well as worship and mission opportunities. Our Pastor is available for pre-worship and after worship greeting and you will find numerous fellowship opportunities at our church.

Music Ministry

The Music Ministry of First Presbyterian Church offers persons of every age and ability a place to discover, nurture, and offer their musical gifts. Our Chancel Choir has an integral role in leading worship through the gifts of their voice and instrument. We also have a Bell Choir, open to anyone who would like to learn how to play the bells.
